Gillian Kendall is a nomadic travel writer who has trouble answering the questions “Where are you from?”, “Where do you live?” and “Where are you going?” In spring 2020 she was sheltering in place in Northern California.
Her business cards say, “Writer and Adventurer for Hire.” Please hire her.

Hi Gillian: FYI the anti-spam feature (Captcha) on your website contact page (gilliankendall.org) isn’t working. As a result, any attempt to send you an email via your contact page does’t work. I have tried off and on for two weeks using different computers and web browsers at different locations…..so I don’t think the problem is on my end.
I was sending you an email to say I how much I enjoyed reading MR DING’S CHICKEN FEET recently and had a question. Regards, Ken Weaver – Bradenton, Florida
Dear Ken, Thanks! I’m sorry you had trouble reaching me via the website and I’m having my webmaster look into that problem. Meanwhile feel free to use my email address (write2gillian@gmail.com). Where’d you find DING? I’m glad you liked it and would be happy to hear your comments. Best wishes, Gillian
Oh Giiiiillllly! Nothing up here for a while. Are you OK?
Gillian! I’m so relieved to know you made it to the lovely hotel and got your beautiful rug and have your belongings etc. I been on the tipping edge of my computer chair the whole time, adoring your writing and laughing at your image of your predicaments. Now when you come to dinner you’ll notice my Turkish “carpentry” too, and we can share a few stories. You are a riot. I look forward to continued posts, our articles, your books, and your return to our table.
You have Turkish carpentry? Ooooh, you got a carpenter, too? Can’t wait to see!!!
So nice to connect with your blog and read your adventures. A cab, a shuttle, 3 planes, 4 countries and a 2.5 hour drive found me home at 9p exhausted. I’ve shared my Rakije and had my first full day back at work. When do we go back! Can’t wait to read about the demonstrations and your movement from this point.
Oops. Sorry I spelled your name wrong. Must be the time zone change!
Jillian:
Read your post about dinner with Prue. Love hearing how it happened for you. I look forward to more writing. Just unpacked my rakija, wrapped in dirty laundry. Coffee at my kitchen table with a view of my riotous flower garden. Home sweet home.
Lianne,
I can’t believe you got home so fast, though it probably seems like days ago to you that you left. I am sitting in the hostel restaurant right now. I checked out this morning ready to go back to Berovo, and then saw Micki and talked to her about what David’s friend said about the current demonstrations in Skopje. Tonight is the biggest demonstration of all, and some people are sahying it is the beginning of the Macedonian Arab Spring. I checked back into my room. I called Sister and said I’d get there in a few days. Tonight David, his friend Aneta and I are going to the demonstration. Vive le revoluccion. PS I will wear your shirt as red is good for the TV cameras.
Gillian,
Sounds like quite the adventure. I think that leaving this “reply” will “register” me for your blog. I checked the little box to be notified via email with your new posts. I hope that does the trick. I have had very limited activity in the blogosphere….
Just returned from the Shuttle Launch on the Space Coast. I should write about it…
High adventure as always, Jill. It’s fun reading about what you’re up to next. Stay safe!
SOFT high adventure! xo, J.
Hi Jill: I am just visiting your blog for the first time and attempting to sign up to be notified by email of new posts. So haven’t read anything yet (I’ve been away, again), but I look forward to, first, finding out where Macedonia is, and then finding out all the rest. Tonight after work.
No need to know where Macedonia is before you start reading! All will be revealed.
Are you back from Prague? Or shall I meet you there?
The Prague trip is not happening in the foreseeable future. Our invitation de-materialized when we tried to pin our would-be host down on dates, whether we could really stay with him, etc. So, instead we went to Wisconsin!
I just caught up on all your posts and really enjoyed them. You are such a witty writer. And now I (sort of) know where Macedonia is.
Thanks, Margie, that’s wonderful to hear from as discerning a reader as you!
safe travels, gillian, i’m looking forward to reading your next entry
